CommuniKate: Social Media Musings – KateDickman.com CommuniKATE: Social Media & Other Musings

About Me

I started this blog a few years back before the word "social media" truly existed or at least was acknowledged as mainstream.  This blog contained my various juvenile rants about topics all across the board.  These days, it's focused on more social media/internet related topics as well as current events that I feel affect me.

A bit about me:

As a 13 year old, I created a newsletter with distribution to more than 1,000 people in the earlier AOL 2.5/3.0 days.  I have always been completely immersed in anything tech-related and have loved all of new emerging media.  Currently, I am a social media marketer as well as a Community Manager for campaigns with major US brands.    As a consultant, I have been working for the past five years helping businesses grow their online presence as well as communicate with current and potential clientele.

The seemingly obligatory professional (third-person) version that makes me look like I'm boasting:
While still an undergraduate, Kate discovered the internet marketing realm and began freelancing for several small businesses in Manhattan.  Under the expert tutelage of well-known marketer Jaime Mintun, Kate assisted in launching the now quite successful BlogTalkRadio.com.  Following graduation from St. John's University with a degree in Communications (minor in Marketing), she traveled to Ghana, Africa on a humanitarian mission.  There she taught young students in remote villages, learning more from them than ever imagined!  Upon returning to the states, Kate continued on the internet marketing path with Boston firm Brick Marketing, where she worked with clients on a variety of initiatives, including blog marketing ventures, email campains, social presence, online reputations, and much  more.

In January of 2009, Kate was signed on by new marketing firm crayon to serve as Panasonic LivinginHD.com Community Manager.  Additionally, she has continued freelancing with a number of other major brands, including Lipton, Yahoo! and Realty.com.
