Who is Sarah Palin?

This is not a political blog whatsoever but I just want to quickly comment on who McCain who has chosen as his VP nominee which increasingly show us just how ridiculous his decision-making skills are.

He has picked a woman who he has met ONCE.  The second time he met her, it was to offer her the nomination, Are we serious?  McCain, you're certainly not a young guy.  God Forbid you become President and God Forbid you die during your term, you're entrusting a completely inexperienced candidate to lead our country?

It's almost as if he wanted a woman or a "surprising" candidate from the beginning and when looking at the list, he simply thought "Hey, I guess she'd be good!"

Who is she?  Has anyone ever heard of her?  She's beautiful, she's smart and I'm sure she'd be good in various leadership roles as she has been in the past but as Vice President?  I'm all for a woman being in the White House but Hillary was more of my idea of a woman who could handle the job as Commander in Chief - not this nobody.

Obama's choice of Biden seemed "right".  This just feels "off".  How many Republicans can actually say they feel confident in his choice?

Oh and for the comments about McCain trying to attract Hillary voters - that's almost insulting.  Palin's views and Clinton's views are OPPOSITE.  Why would we vote for her?  Simply because she is a female?  She is extremely conservative and as someone who was planning on voting for Hillary, it was based on her views more than her being a female.  Just because Palin has a uterus doesn't mean anything to me.

This is more proof that McCain simply is NOT right for our country.

OBAMA please!

PS. Who thinks she kinda looks like SNL's Tina Fey? (Or is it just the glasses?)

Update:  I've found Palin's "blog"!  Ha ha - this is priceless - http://sarahpalin.typepad.com/

*Please note: If you can't figure it out already, that blog above is a SATIRE blog for comedic purposes and not real. (Thank God!)

  1. I think Tina Fey would make a better vice president. The republican woman have an “ugly” way about them! Sorry Failin’ Palin!

  2. All the polls say the McCain/Palin ticket has been strengthened and a good portion of the Hillarites will vote Republican because of the Alaskan Governor (you forgot to mention that small detail in your post- she’s the only one of the four running mates with any executive experience at all, the rest are mere senators). Should be an interesting fall and I think you’ll see McCain do well this November against Osama/Bye-done. :)

  3. Palin is a terrible choice for possible PRESIDENT ! What in the world!!!! Look it – the DJIA is up only 700 points in 7 1/2 years – or 8% — that is TERRIBLE!!! and the GOP likes to say they are the financial leaders of the country? The trickle down theory doesn’t work. Extra money stays at the top where corporate fats sell worthless mortgages to unsuspecting borrowers and make money of dumping risk. Or they give big bonuses to company executives who have failed! It is ridiculous out there! We need regulation. We need health care for everyone. Canada has it. Great Britain has it but 40 MILLION people here don’t and we’ve probably all been one of those at one time or another. Enough craziness. I am a proud veteran but didn’t vote for Bush either time and I am certainly not considering McCain this year! Take our country back and vote for your economic interests and the well-being of our country and the world – - Please!

  4. Maybe McCain is having another Sunni/Shiite moment. Perhaps he thinks Hillary supporters will be so dazzled by Palin’s gender that they won’t notice that she wants to make abortion illegal.

The fact that msncb.com’s headline right now is “Roe vs. Wade makes campaign comeback” tells me McCain (and davidtjordan) are wrong.

Kos has assembled a good array of facts about Ms. Palin:
    http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/8/29/183255/841/290/579394

Looks like she is holding back incriminating email in a scandal Alaskan newspaper’s call Troopergate.

  5. I have to say, I actually read an article about Palin last spring and I was intrigued. A woman with a strong sense of self, strong values, smart, and not entrenched in the world of politics. Say what you want about the whole State Trooper thing — it’s all very fishy, from more than one angle.

The fact that she is inexperienced reminds me of Obama, actually, and their inexperience is something that is attractive to me about both of them.

I’m leaning toward voting for Obama despite the fact that I disagree with him on many issues that are significant to me. Still, I’d like to see more women like Palin in both parties.

  6. Hi Hillary — you must be very wealthy. Own a big company?

  7. I would welcome the opportunity to sit in a room with all of the above-mentioned posters and debate the merits of their comments, and both presidential tickets. A guy can wish, can’t he? It astounds me how factuallý incorrect some people’s statements can be, yet they are professed as absolute fact. So sad… Can’t wait to hear from you K8 :)

  8. Chris is a republican.

  9. @Chris I’m going on what I’ve gathered from reliable sources – CNN, (Independent) Political Analysts etc. I’m not making up fake facts and presenting them as “absolute fact”. I just honestly cannot take this whole thing seriously. Even if I were Republicn I’m not sure I could fully.

  10. On Jan 19 2001 – the day before Bush became President the DOW was at 10,587.59 – Yesterday it closed at 11,543.55. In 7 1/2 years that is a gain of 8 percent. If Adria had invested $1000 in a large cap mutual fund back then, today she would have around $1080– Republican economics doesn’t work!!!

  11. This is from her blog today:

“I have been getting a lot of guff from people saying I don’t know about Foreign Policy. First, I really appreciate everyone who’s been sticking up for me. They are right, Alaska is near Russia (we are right by Kamchatka, just like in Risk). In fact sometimes I have to sign letters to them about who has been fishing too much (I still need to follow up about that, but it’s under control).

The thing that nobody has pointed out though is that Alaska is also right by another country, Canada! We are pretty much surrounded in fact. But during my administration we have remained at peace.”

I am speechless. Alaska is at peace with Canada and Russia – - some “dumb” people, as she calls them, will believe she brokered peace for our largest state. You know – - Because Canada is building up there forces on the Alaskan border. And Russia will kill anyone for the fish!

She sounds like a vehemently angry person.

We need optimists right now — not someone like this.

  12. I’m hoping to god that site is a joke lol

  13. This is a clock that counts the days since Palin has talked to the press http://pol.moveon.org/palinclocks.html – she’s running for vice-president (hiding something) from moveon.org.

  14. I think that blog has got to be a hoax, because what person running for VP has time to blog…
I am totally voting for obama, and even though i am hardcore Feminist it is because of the strength in the values and the freedom and equality women have fought for —> i would NOT vote republican just to get a lady in office however- especially a lady who would like to tell me what I can and can not do with my vagina.
Also, her bragging about not aborting her disabled child is revolting – not everyone is wealthy with endless polar bear meat to eat…many people are faced with issues she has long since forgotten. This women holds every ‘value’ that I call a prejudice.

  15. @Chris: The DJIA is now only 100 points higher than the day George Bush took office. Republican tax policy does not work! Hellooooo? 70% of the economy is consumer drivin so don’t cut taxes for the rich – - a lot of that money has been invested overseas. We need regulation. Greedy americans do not care what happens to the average Joe. When Clinton was President the DJIA went up almost 400%. Jeesh.
